A woman at the fabric shop said she is having a problem with her bobbin not picking up the top thread. Any ideas?
Never has happened to me, told her i would try to find some answers for her. Thanks, Eisgoow |
Has she tried cleaning out the bobbin area really well- rewind another bobbin- rethread the top of the machine - new needle ?
|
I wonder if it could be the timing on her machine. Something similar to me happened and the timing had to be repaired.

Also the needle may not be in right.

The bobbin thread could be wound incorrectly or placed in it's holder backwards. Is the holder locked in place correctly?
The needle could be threaded incorrectly. Needles have a flat side which also need to be inserted into the machine correctly. Did she mess with the tensions at all. What make and model of machine? Maybe someone has one here that can help a little more specifically. |
It may just be a bad bobbin. Plastic bobbins can be slightly off or warped and metal ones can also be a little bent. If she has more than one machine, it may even be the wrong bobbin. Try another bobbin before you blame the machine. Once in a while, a bobbin may also not fill properly and may cause trouble.
