problems with downloading embroidery/quilting patterns

I purchased several CD's from my LQS for my Bernina. I have formatted my USB stick and have successfully downloaded patterns from the CD to the USB stick (ScanDisk 32 MB). However, when I attempt to use the USB stick with my 830 Bernina, it doesn't read the USB stick. I have installed the Bernina artlink software that is free from Bernina. Any advise would be appreciated.

Is it not recognizing the drive or are you getting an error message? Check your manual to see the largest USB stick your Bernina will accommodate. You should be OK, but I had one machine that needed a smaller thumb drive. then referring to your manual, make sure that you are using the correct file type.

I'm not getting any error messages. It just doesn't bring the designs up on the sewing machine screen.

Did you save them as art. file? You may need to save them as melco, or exp. I ran into that with my 880.

How long did you wait? That is a very large drive. It could be that the machine just hadn't found the designs yet. I don't use anything larger than 4MB in my machines and sometimes it takes a minute to find and read my designs.

Did you format the usb on your pc or let your machine format it? A friend of mine had one do this and the dealer told her you're supposed to stick the blank drive in the machine to format it.

I'm guessing you mean its a SanDisk 32 GB, not MB, right? If that's the case, it might be too large. I understand that with many machines, it is best to use 4 GB and smaller.

I only put a couple of designs on the usb stick, because the more designs the longer it takes for the machine to read them. Are your designs not too large for the size hoop you have, if you only have a small hoop the machine may not recognize larger ones. Are they in the correct format.

I keep my designs on a large memory stick, but I tend to use a small one in my machine as the machine computers quite often have problems reading large sticks, the more that's on the stick the more difficult it is for the machine. I've learned its best to use small stick in machine with a small amount of designs on it at a time. Check out the yahoo users group for your machine.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll try them later today and post again.
