I have been having trouble attaching the front and back of the quilt together. I can't keep them alighned. Just when I think I am finished, I look on the back and there is a large crease in the fabric, or more. Also when am pinning them together one is larger then the other, even though they are the same size. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I'm sure it ia as clear as mud (lol) I have made several baby quilts an this doesn't happen on them. It is only the bigger quilts that do this.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

The larger the quilt, the bigger the chance of getting wrinkles in the batting.
Try heavily starching the backing.
Lay out the backing and pin or tape it so it is taut, but not stretched... then add your batting and top.
Baste well... On large quilts baste even more than what you think you should
Start in the center of your quilt when quilting, and work out to the sides and top. This helps "push" the fabric out to the sides :D:D:D

I agree with amma's suggestion to pin or tape so the backing is taut but not stretched...also, it's usually better to have the backing and batting a little larger than the top when you put the "sandwich" together. This way, after the quilting is done, you can trim up the quilt to the proper size and all three layers the same size.

I've started using 505 basting spray which helps me keep the sandwich together -

Can you adopt me? I have been quilting for a while, but I am self taught. I don't know anyting about paper peircing, ot any of the other quilting lingo. I usually make just squares and sew them together. I am now working on my first quilt following a pattern. Can you adopt me ??????

Consider yourself adopted, by all of us on the board. You'll soon realize it's kind of like a big family here, except with less sibling rivalry!!!

Sure, we will adopt you. Lots of questions get asked and a lot of answers are given. Lots of choices with all the answers and all of them are good.
