Problems Removing Bobbin
 

I have a Brother SE400. When I wind a new bobbin I have to pry it off. Has anyone ever had this problem? I posted a question on the Brother board, and the only response was that I was winding it to tight! Thanks!

Have you tried new bobbins? One batch of bobbins could be a smidge off on size.

Never had a problem with brother or babylock's bobbins on my machines, even bought some cheap off ebay, haven't had a problem with generic ones either

My Janome bobbins are tight but I don't have to pry them off. I have had issues with some generic bobbins being harder to get off the spindle. I wonder if a little of the silicon or machine oil would help.

I know if you wind embroidery bobbin thread too fast it will wind too tightly. I speak from experience! I now always wind my bobbins slowly. The best thing to do when a bobbin is stuck on your bobbin winder is to manually unwind the thread and then usually your bobbin will come off.
It was explained to me that the thread actually compresses the bobbin core when it's wound too tightly. If that happens the tech told me it was best to throw the bobbin away as it will do the same thing again. Just my 2 cents worth.

Have had similar issues with my Viking. They, too, are plastic bobbins specific to the Viking machines. I do find that if I wind them slower they are far easier to remove from the pin. It could probably be a cleaning issue as well. Haven't tried this myself but I probably should. An alcohol wipe on the spool pin probably wouldn't hurt.

When I worked for Viking, several of our owners complained about this. The bottom line was to tell them to fill the bobbin at a slower rate than at top speed. They had great success with that. It could be distortion, heat or even tension - what ever the cause - try a slower speed.
