This morning I needed to do many things--clean the house (I mean really clean, too), laundry, weed the flowers, go to the farmer's market. Those are all very worthwhile and necessary things, aren't they? Well, ha! You know what I did....I had three quilts to baste and that is exactly I've been doing, perhaps for the first time not even feeling a bit guilty that I was having so much fun instead of doing the drudgery. I just finished the basting, got another cup of coffee and started reading posts on here. This is a beautiful day!

boy, do I know what you mean about the guilt of not taking care of housework and other stuff, before quilting.I love to quilt and sew easy craft things, but I can't enjoy doing anything if my house is a mess and laundry needs to be done. Hey, my kids are grown and not living at home and my house can turn into a disater before I know it!!! For me to relax and enjoy a day of quilting and crafting, the whole house has to be clean and not messy. I quess I'm just rambling about this, but when I saw your post I connected!!! Toodles enjoy your day. p.s. I have to go clean now..... lol

Quilter's Rule # 425.368912 reads: "It is required that you take a day for yourself as often as you need providing no one in your care (animals included) is starving, bleeding to death, or climbing to the top shelf of the wall size entertainment center (to jump off of like Spider Man). The floor under the pile of laundry is being protected from dirt by said pile, so it is perfectly fine where it is for a bit. The layer of dust on the furniture is serving the same purpose as the afore referenced pile of laundry, so let it lie in wait."

See, it's a rule!!! :D

Carla, don't forget that one about ...it will, like your quilts and projects, be there, waiting patiently, for the time you will be able to devote yourself wholeheartedly to it. To each his, or her, or its' own. Development takes individual attention. Attend well!

Carla P 06-08-2007 11:14 AM

Thanks Sandra... I forgot that part!! :D

I did only mention it because I myself have noticed this tendency. Always surprised that the darn things just don't get up and take care of themselves, it is obvious I am busy attending to something else that requires my absolute attention. One keeps hoping! I distinctly remember hearing someone say that if left unattended they would grow legs and walk off one day! Closely followed by the question,"what would you do then?" I believe I can clearly reply now....."QUILT"

Hey, who cares, what ever you want to do, we won't tell NO QUILT POLICE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go go go ladies

Hey, Chessygurl, come to my house!! You can clean and I will quilt. When you get done, you can join in. How is that for a deal?? I wish I liked to clean like you do, or was even able to. There are great things to be said about a tidy house. Unfortunately, they never get said here. On to quilting!
