Do you have the Procrastination Problem??? Sometimes I'd rather die than sew or quilt other times I'm Full steam ahead. You???

All the time. I have so many quilts I want to do. But since I hand quilt, I get discouraged because I feel guilty about piecing another quilt until I have finshed some that are sandwiched that I haven't finished quilting, so I don't do anything.

I think it is a common problem for everyone at one time or another . In fact right now I should be working on a problem block, and what am I doing ... uh... uh... visiting my friends on the board
Soon.. very soon.. I will tackle that block

There are things I procrastinate, cleaning is one of them lol. I sometimes have a hard time getting started quilting but I'm not sure if that's procrastination or not.

I procrastinate ALL the time. One reason why I have marathon sewing weeks. lol

Happens all the time...right now I'm trying to kick myself in the butt to keep going on my Christmas projects. (Yeah, and what did I do? Start a NEW project for another friend! Current project still in pieces!). Nope...you're NOT alone.

Yes it happens quite often but thankfully righ now I am full speed ahead. I have been sewing like crazy. Husband had to come to sewing room to visit me yesterday. Tomorrow i have company coming for a sewing day. Other times I can go for a week without going near sewing room.

I find I only have that problem if the project is something I didn't want to do in the first place. That is why I rarely participate in challenges or Block of the Month etc. I just spent 4 days on retreat. I finished all of the projects I had taken. I was amazed at what some of the people brought. I realize that many of them work fulltime and don't have time to quilt like I do at home. I was the only one who had finished the quilt that was made from the blocks we all did last year for our 10th anniversary of retreating. On friday night we tour everyone's room and look at the quilt on their beds. At least three of the 24 of us had basted but not quilted quilts on their beds. Several of them have had the same quilt every year they come to the retreat. I always have a different one.
In general I don't have UFOs I just have lots of fabrics that I purchased with a project in mind. Once I start something I usually finish it.

I've tried to train myself to have two projects going on at a time. One needs to be in the cut and piece stage, and the other needs to be in the quilt and bind stage. That way, I have something to work on depending on my mood. Having said that, what usually happens is that once I get something ready for the quilt and bind stage, I spend less and less time on it, and refuse to start a third project till I get it done. I don't know what it is about being nearly done that makes me procrastinate on it! Some deep psychological issues, no doubt.

I'm that way too. I don't know why but I'm already burnt out on my flower face quilt. I gotta force myself to work on it

Going through it right now. Of course, I think it may have to do with school, finals, etc.

I can go a few days without quilting, but then the urge is back and I need to sew.

I am usually the putter offer, but I have all my Christmas done and today finished addressing cards. I have probably left off something very important lol

MadQuilter 11-17-2009 01:16 PM

Easy answer: YEP!

I especially tend to procrastinate when I am not confident in the next step that needs to be done. I also suffer from feeling obligated to get the house and yardwork done before quilting, which is a problem, because those things are never done!
