OK, remember this is my first time making an Irish chain. So far I have done 20 chain 13" chain blocks and 20 13" alts. Only aggravating part is making the color squares match seam wise to each other Comments and suggestions are welcome, I want his quilt to look awesome when it's finished.

I'm in the processing of hand quilting a king sized triple Irish Chain--talk about taking FOREVER! I remember how there just seemed to be no end to the blocks. Just take your time and enjoy the process, and eventually it will all get put together right. Looks to me like you're doing an awesome job--great color choices!

bearpaw 08-11-2008 08:13 AM

Looks awesome now!! Still love the colors!

Chele 08-11-2008 08:14 AM

Craftybug 08-11-2008 08:29 AM

Thanks girls, and Harmony you are right on the putting together the blocks, there seems to be no end to them. Then comes the other no endding part of it cause I also quilt by hand. So far I'm happy with the way is looking.

Craftybug, your Irish Chain looks terrific!
The only thing I can say about matching your seams, is to make sure your seams are pressed in opposite directions. Then, when you are matching them, they will nestle together...and if you put them so the first one you come to when sewing is folded away from you, your presser foot will even push them together! (It usually works out that one goes away from you & the other goes toward you tho', but it seems like if the 1st one nestles, so will the 2nd one.)
Keep up the great work!! :D

Thanks Sue :D I didn't think of that, I will try it this afternoon when I start working on it. I will let you know how it goes.

Great job. Looks beautiful. As for hand quilting ; I'm a hand quilter too. I'm working on a queen I just work on it at night ( at least a 1/2 hour ends up more) and all weekend long.

Craftybug 08-11-2008 09:48 AM

Thanks, just like me I work on my quilts at night and on the weekends. I got a scrappy that I have been quilting now for 2 months and like four or five waiting in line and now my irish chain that I want to complete first.
