Proof that quilters live a long time

Yesterday a friend showed me a article published Sept 6th in a small newspaper from Kendalville, a town north of Ft. Wayne, In. It was about Mrs. Ollie Roberts, 107 yrs old and a quilter. It showed a picture of her, one of her GFG quilts and a belated birthday greeting from the President and wife. When she was asked what kind of sewing machine she used, she held up her fingers and said that these were her sewing machine. Her daughter said she allways remembered her mom quilting, knitting or sewing. So, see there is hope for all the rest of us that keep saying that we'll have to live to be xxxyrs old to use up all our material:)

I will never live long enough to use up all my fabric. I need to start destashing.

Great news! I was worried about living ling enough to use up my stash! Now I don't have to start selling some of it, lol!

Bless her heart! :) At the rate I sew with a sewing machine, I'd never finish anything with just my hands! It has nothing to do with the amount of time I spend on the QB, instead of sewing! :D

That is certainly good news. I still will never use all my stash. I DO have 3 quilts partly done using only my stash. I can't really see a dent in the stash. I think it reproduces at night when I'm not looking. lol

Bless her sweet heart! Can't you just visualize her holding up her fingers and smiling?

My grandmother quilted until 10 days before her death at 104. Bless both her heart and the featured quilter's.

Great news about those who used what they had to the best advantage. They keep their hands busy with work to build, not destroy; they kept their minds busy, mending, creating beauty used in their own homes and family's, too. With a great attitude they faced each day as it came in life. Its a wonderful pattern for all quilters to us and teach their children as well.

Great news of their long lifetimes. Thanks for sharing their stories.

I thought we had a stash to insulate the house and save on fuel costs. If you train grandchildren you can pass the stash on to them saying a stash of antique fabric then you never need to reduce.

Instead of this frame of mind try, I need to live long enough to use all the fabric I own. Well if I make the 90 and feel half way OK, I'd be really happy. 107! WOW!
