Puff/Biscuit Quiltmakers out there???

I know it's an older pattern, but I have a question for those of you who have made a Puff or Biscuit quilt. Have any of you tried using left-over batting scraps to fill the puffs instead of the fiberfill? I use up my left-over batting by piecing it, then I cut for rag quilts, and then I use bits for dog beds....but, I'm getting tired of the rag quilts...they take so much time. I know all the wonderful things to use the quilt batting scraps for, but still thinking it might work for puff quilts. Do any of you have any success with that? Any hints? Thanks for looking!

I don't think it will work for puff quilts. Batting usually doesn't puff. I you use pieces it will probably be lumpy.

I agree with 1by1. It would be "lumpy".

Lumpy and heavy. Stick with fiberfill, IMO. I have a biscuit quilt on my long todo list.

I agree with everyone else. It would be lumpy!

The fibrefill makes a nice fluffy puff which is what you are looking for. I made my granddaughter a puff quilt for her pram and whenever she goes out my daughter is asked where she bought it! Go with the fibrefill - it's worth it!

I agree. You want it to be puffy and light, not heavy and lumpy. :(

If you want to use up block size batting, you might want to look into quilt as you go techniques. I always seem to end up with a long placemat width strip of batting after I trim the sandwich. Now I cut them into block sizes and make quilt as you go blocks. A stack of squares is so much easier to store than a long roll of 14" w batting.
