Thread Catchers with pockets are nice if you sew in the car, or while you're watching TV. You can put all of your stuff in them, and have your pin cushion on top. I like to put poly pellets in mine. They're clean, and can be laundered. Here's a picture of some I've made.

OOOOooooo.... I LOVE that Mega Pinnie!

Vitality's pin cushion is my favorite so far. It's big and useful. I think I'll look for a small size throw pillow I love and make it into a pin cushion.

My perfect pincushion is one that my daughter's boxer doesn't want to eat nor does my lab/beagle mix want to, either! :D:D
He has eaten 3 of them - after carefully, somehow, removing all the pins first. |
I made my own. Fairly ugly, but very useful. I had some old netting in my stash, so I rolled it into a "log" shape, and inserted it into a sleeve that I had sewn. (Take two pieces of heavy fabric about 6" long, 4" wide, sew around all edges except one.) After you put the netting into the sleeve/log, sew the end together. I sewed it on my machine, and it did make a little "ledge." It is easier to move from one place to another with the little edge. Free/practical.

There are some really great pincushions here! I like to have mine handy wherever I am, so this is my choice. It hangs around my neck. Although I've been known to wear it to the store. LOL I purchased a couple at a craft show and then made this one myself as a gift for a friend.

this is my present best pincushion. I think the secret to a good cushion is a heavy solid base foe when you insert the pins.
