Thread Catchers with pockets are nice if you sew in the car, or while you're watching TV. You can put all of your stuff in them, and have your pin cushion on top. I like to put poly pellets in mine. They're clean, and can be laundered. Here's a picture of some I've made.

Vitality's pin cushion is my favorite so far. It's big and useful. I think I'll look for a small size throw pillow I love and make it into a pin cushion.

He has eaten 3 of them - after carefully, somehow, removing all the pins first.

You have no idea how much sawdust is in a small tomato pincushion ... I know now, thanks to my beagle. Just to give you an idea ... I cleaned up piles of it in four different rooms.

I made my own. Fairly ugly, but very useful. I had some old netting in my stash, so I rolled it into a "log" shape, and inserted it into a sleeve that I had sewn. (Take two pieces of heavy fabric about 6" long, 4" wide, sew around all edges except one.) After you put the netting into the sleeve/log, sew the end together. I sewed it on my machine, and it did make a little "ledge." It is easier to move from one place to another with the little edge. Free/practical.

I love the pockets on this one. I have one that has a small pincushion on top and 3 spindles to hold the spools of thread but then nothing to do with the scissors. Pockets are a great idea.

Forgetting you're wearing it is better than forgetting that you're not wearing it. Cute idea.

this is my present best pincushion. I think the secret to a good cushion is a heavy solid base foe when you insert the pins.
