I am considering purchasing a quilt frame constructed from PVC. I have an embroidery square hoop made from PVC and do not like how tightly the pieces fit that hold the fabric in place. It seems like they would gouge or at the very least stretch a quilt in a similar but larger type frame for quilting. I would appreciate hearing any of your experiences with such a quilt frame.

I have one and really like it. Don't do a lot of hand quilting but it worked great with no problems. In fact 2 of my friends bought one after using mine with me.

My step mother gave me her q-snap floor model (Yes, I am VERY lucky) and I really like it; don't do a lot of hand quilting, but when I do it's nice to have it. It holds the quilt securely - but I would NOT sit on it, you and the quilt would have a very close encounter with the floor.

if you get one, get QSnap brand. they have ribbing inside the sections that snap over the frame. without that your fabric doesn't stay in well at all.

I bought myself a Qsnap for my birthday about 23 years ago and absolutely love it. It's about 30 x 40 inches and works great for baby quilts. Larger ones are a little more difficult, but can still be done.

I have a q snap frame. I like it except I put a hand pieced--hand appliqued piece in and the plastic things that snap it onto the PVC frame kind of pulled my applique stitches. It was noticeable enough that I had to do a repair job--not much but it bothered me so I fixed it.

It is nice because it is smaller and very portable. I can sit in the living room with my DH and quilt while he watches TV. I wish I had the tilting pieces for the legs,
It was affordable because I got it from Jo-ann's with a 40 percent coupon.

I have a pvc pipe frame that hubby made for me after seeing the q snap. I asked that it not be quite as deep. Not sure how he made the "snap" parts. I only know he did a lot of grinding to make them smooth. They do not have the ribs, and I haven't had a problem with them slipping. Maybe they are tighter than the q snap? anyway, I really like it. It is small, and very light weight.

I had a Q-snap floor frame for hand quilting. It was fine when I was younger. There is no way I could hand quilt on one now without triggering back problems, even with the props for the rear legs. The fixed angle was problematic for me. I had no problem with the clamp-on pieces but my quilts were pieced ones.

I have a q-snap and really like it. I turned mine into a tilting one by buying 2 pieces of pvc pipes the same size as the legs that came with it but longer. If you don't want to measure, just take your leg with you to the hardware store and they will fix you right up and even cut them to whatever size you want. Then when you put it together,it will tilt toward you. When you don't want it to tilt,just take the legs off and use the legs that came with the frame.

Just one word of advice when you do get it hide it from kids. My son found mine and well lets just say thank goodness I only paid a dollar for it he used it as a sword and it was destroyed before I could say no!

I have a PVC frame and just love it. I just recently bought extensions for it that lifts it to an angle and it is great. I have done quilts as large as king size on the PVC frame without any trouble.

I have a Q snap floor model. I really like it. Have hand quilted 2 quilts on it.

Had thought of this but never tried it. Thanks for the info. I love my frame, only thing I use for hand quilting and do large and small quilts on mine. Easy to put away too.

I have one and I love it but now I don't have enough room to put it up. Son and granddaughter moved back in.

I have a PVC floor frame bought from JoAnn's - I like it .. Considering I haven't had any other floor frame, I will say that its easy to assemble, fits snug, without creasing, and its the right height for me as I sit in my recliner to either tie, or handsew .. Hope that helps a little..

My husband made me a PVC quilt frame and I have used it for 13 years and really like it. They are nice when you are done hand quilting you just take it a part and takes up very little room.
I would recomend one as I know you will enjoy it.

I have had one for years. I don' have the floor model but the smaller one. I like that I can take it anywhere and have even used it in the car. I used to have a large floor frame and it took up way too much room and to move the quilt took time unpinning the sides, move and repinning, I sold it. I need to get the bigger PVC frame.

As others have stated, I also love my Q-snap frames! I have 3 hand held frames of different sizes, then had to have the floor frame, I just love it! :)

I have the Dritz quilters floor frame, it angles either direction. I love it. I have quilted a queen on it, it is doable. love the way it goes together quickly, I have never had a problem with it stretching fabric.Glad I found mine at Walmart about 2-3 yrs ago, they were clearancing them out for 35.00 I snapped it up, should have gotten the other too.

I also have the floor PVC-quilting frame with the tilt legs and love it I can do any size quilt on it.I highly recommend it :D :thumbup:

I have one and love it. Did a whole Dear Jane quilt on it.

I also have 2 PVC frames one for lap quilting and a floor model and love them.

A friend of mine gave me one. I do have another floor frame , an antique. Any hints on putting the quilt into it. Do I baste/pin baste? never used a q snap. I do know how to put quilt in the antique frame and I know how to baste to just quilt on the table with no frame. Thank you for any hints.

I have several sizes of the Q snap..The one I use the most is the 14 inch square. I have the floor model and several smaller sizes that I love too...I did find that after 11 years the snaps got a little looser, but I was able to replace them very cheaply by ordering the Q snap clamps. I had been told that you can use greenhouse clamps, but for me, they do not hold the fabric well at all..QSnap is well worth the investment, especially with a Joannes coupon!
