Me too, yes I have noticed the decline in the quality of fabrics (along with everything else) guess it had to happen eventually.
Manufacturers have been steadily decreasing the size of their goods such as in amounts a certain items hold while keeping the price the same or increasing the price. Hence you end up paying more for the same item and actually get less for your buck. Fabric manufacturers have more than likely decided to jump on the bandwagon and decrease their thread count etc. I bought some Moda fabric last week and it is just awful. It has shed lint like there is going to be no tomorrow. Maybe1day Maybe1day |
I didn't want to say anything, but glad it was brought up, as I thought I was losing my touch. There is a big difference.

I recently had to get another yard at Hobby Lobby to match a quilt I was working on for Project Linus.
I paid for a yard. When it was washed, and straightened up before cutting, there was only 33 inches left of that yard. I seldom buy their fabrics, but our choices here are Joann's and Hobby Lobby. My LQS is out of my realm for charity quilts, but I also hate to send out charity quilts that are not the best of materials, either. |
I ordered some from a well known place HF and it was so thin i could see right through it.

Looks like its time to circle the wagons and refuse to buy the poor quality fabric being offered! I thought it was just picky me! I stopped shopping at JoAnns and am curtailing my beloved on-line fabric shopping because I can't feel the fabric and have been very disappointed in what I'm shipped lately. Guess its back to cutting up used clothes again until manufacturers get the message!
