Queen of Stitching EZ Build blocks
 

Hello,

I would like to know if someone has tried Queen of Stitching EZ build blocks on their embroidery machine.
I'm thinking of purchasing one of their sets but since it is quite pricey, before I go ahead and spend my money I would like to hear from previous customers.

That's why I want to hear opinions.

I think if it saves time and you get accurate blocks, then it's worth it.

This is a set of six different blocks on different sizes, that's what makes me want them LOL.

I am an embroiderer, digitiser and quilter, and personally wouldn't shell out that much money for something as simple as this. I noticed there was no video of flying geese, but on the whole making any of these blocks would take so much more time. You have to re-hoop with stabiliser - more time and expense.

What brand of machine do you have, what is your hoop size, and does it not have a feature where you can resize and stitch out a square? I think the advert says all designs are in 15 sizes, how many will/can you use?

The 1/2 sq triangles will have sides on the bias, and they all still have to be trimmed to measure.
Most of us would be more productive using the old fashioned methods.

I agree with Gay. I could have had the HSTs cut before she placed the fabric on the stabilizer. I thought this was going to be the two colors of fabrics sewn on the emb machine and all sewn to be cut apart and finished, including seam allowances. not at all what i expected to see.

You will be limited by your hoop size. You are going to have the extra expense of the stabilizer, (which she uses lavishly in the videos). One of the comments she makes in her videos is about using very heavy starch.
If you are having issues creating these basic designs using traditional methods, I would try heavily starching the fabric first and trying again. Starching before cutting and piecing really helps your accuracy.
For making HST & flying geese, I would get Triangulations software. Basically, it allows you to print off paper piecing patterns for these 2 units in 1/8" increments. It's much less expensive and you are already tearing off the stabilizer so removing the paper isn't an additional step.

You are right. I didn't think of the bias on the triangles. Not a good option.

I have two embroidery machines. A 6x10 Baby lock Ellageo and a 8x12 Baby lock Ellisimo. I have done a handful of quilts in the hoop. I piece and quilt in the hoop and then I put all together with the quilt as you go method.

You would be better off spending money on the Accuquilt Go. Use the cutter and then sew together
