Quest for a pattern

If anyone knows where I could find this pattern and/or can help me with yardage for a twin size version that would be awesome! I can't figure out where it came from. I've been bouncing from pinterest board to pinterest board.

It's an Irish chain. Alternating 9-patch blocks with one-patch blocks. What the quilter has done is coordinate the colors used in the 9-patch blocks with the adjoining one-patch blocks. I would think that if you figure on a fat quarter for each one-patch fabric, you would be fine for the colored sections (and have leftover fabric). Each row has 3 different one-patch blocks in it. For the white, just figure how much you need for the 9-patch blocks and border. That will depend primarily on the size of your 9-patches.
Hope this is a little clearer than mud! If you decide on how big you want your finished quilt and on what size you want to make your 9-patches, someone here can figure out the yardage. Edit: I mean, it's a single Irish chain. Edit 2: I think this pattern would give you a good estimate of the yardage. Just change the border to solid white. And change to three 9-patches per row instead of four. http://www.simplicity.com/t-free-qui...ain-Quilt.aspx |
that looks like a single irish chain to me with careful placement of fabrics. if you are asking about the fabric line, sorry, don't know it.

the picture comes from a web site in Russia and I did not see a place to order pattern

Where would I ask to find out how to calculate yardage for a twin size quilt about "68 x "89?I'd like to do at least 4 colors and the aqua background.
|
Robert kaufman has a fabric calculator you can download for free. Hope that helps.

Google "Single Irish Chain Pattern". I bet you will cone up with several free patterns for that one.

This is very pretty!

I think the fabric is Kaffe Fassett. Beautiful quilt!

You would need 4 yds for the aqua background, this includes a 4" border.
Also you'd need 4 yds of coloured fabric. If you want 4 colours, then 1 yd of each - and if using 8 colours, then half a yard of each fabric. This is based on the blocks being a finished size of 6" ( cut the large blocks 6 1/2" and the 9patch blocks are made using 2 1/2" strips. This should give you a quilt 68 x 92. I haven't worked it out using 9" blocks, but imagine the amount of material would be the same. |
Looks like a straightforward pattern with either a 6" square block next to a 9-patch block made from 2 1/2" strips with a 4" wide border; or a 9" square block next to a 9-patch block made from 3 1/2" strips with a 5-6" border. The tricky part will be fabric placement in the 9-patch blocks to line up with the solid square blocks as you assemble the quilt. Cute quilt, thanks for posting it. Would be a great scrappy pattern too.

Actually, that pattern is a lot simpler than it looks. You would need one big square and four little squares for each fabric you use (not counting background). Wherever you have a given fabric, you'd add one small square into the nine patches adjacent to it. You'd want to keep things organized, but it wouldn't be hard...And yes, I'd say that's Kaffe Fassett fabric – gorgeous! The quilt could be made with two layer cakes, one cut to 9.5" and the other cut in four 3.5" squares.

I too think that the fabric is from Kaffe Fassett. The size of you quilt depends on the size of the block. I actually see an 9 patch and a square piece of fabric. Might be easier for you to piece that way. Might actually be done with a set of fat quarters. Your main square can easily be 6" finished or 9" finished.

I would make the blks nine or twelve inches large.

Thank you to all of you! So much helpful advice. I love this board. I'm going to start my fabric search and get going on this.

Maybe this will help.

It is an Irish Chain, however if you just concentrate on a 9-patch square and a plain square of fabric the same size and alternate the squares, that makes your Irish Chain. Good luck.

Thank you wise ones for the fabric quantities. I often see a quilt and can figure out he pattern, but have no idea of how much fabric to purchase.

This is one of those times when a design wall comes in handy. It looks as though they have used a smaller block to finish up the medallion in the nine patch as they went along.

If you let me know the exact finished size of quilt you want (some people want a certain amount of "drop") - and what block size you want, I would be happy to whip up one in EQ7 and post the yardage, rotary cutting. This is an old pattern, from before the 1930's. For size:
Mattress: 39" x 75: Short Drop: 65" x 88" Long Drop: 81" x 107" Note: most single packaged batting is 72" x 90" I can whip it up in about 30 min or so. |

It's just squares and 9 patches! Fake it!

In fairness and credit to the quilter of this quilt in question, here's the link to her blog/info about this quilt,fabrics/pattern....http://www.onthewindyside.co.nz/2014...ish-chain.html

saw this quilt, thanks for posting it, and realized it was the perfect pattern for a bold floral I've had for a couple years. At the time, I had no idea what to do with it, but loved it. Cut a few strips and blocks and knew it was perfect for this pattern.
