Question 2 - quilting a 10 minute block

After seeing the gorgeous 10 minute nap quilt this week, I was inspired to try one of my own. Mine is made of 3 fabrics. I went ahead and stitched in the ditch around all the big blocks. Do you have any easy ideas on how to quilt the big spaces? I thought about just outlining the center on point square a few times. Sorry, no picture. I just can't figure how how to do it with my iPad. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Some people like to fold the edges of the center block back (kind of like cathedral window) and quilt along the little scallop. You could FMQ any motif you liked in the blocks or use you walking foot to go corner to corner on all the blocks.

Depending on what your fabrics are will usually dictate what type of quilting to do. If the fabrics are solids, then something with a bit of design would be nice. If the fabrics are prints, then I do a basic stipple. Any top made with the 10 minute block is very open to lots of different quilting designs. I did one where each block was a different quilting design from Leah Day's website. I had lots of fun and practiced my fmq skills.

I did a 10 minute block quilt and I simply top stitched close to the outside edges on the center square in each block and then I mendered all around the rest of the quilts --but I did not meander over the center blocks. I left them "pop" out.

I don't have any ideas (sorry!) but I can't wait to see pictures! I, too, loved that 10-minute lap quilt! I've GOT to learn to make that block. Does it really take 10 minutes? Or does it depend on how many times you have to let the dog out? LOL!
