I have a lady near me that use to own a fabric shop and closed it about 5-10 years ago and has the fabric in her home where she sold it. Now she wants to sell it all but I am a little concerned about the age. It was quality name fabric so may be ok. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |
No problems with this fabric. The good cotton, and even the not so good cotton (i.e. feed sacks from the 1930s) do very well aging wise. I wouldn't have any concerns about buying it.

As long as it has been stored well, I wouldn't have any concerns buying it :D:D:D
|
depends how it was stored. I've had fabric rip very easily due to ageing in less than desirable conditions. a neighbor gave it to me. I kind of give things a little tear test now when someone gives me stuff, before I use it in a quilt.

I hope she is selling it at a good price. :-D

If it was good fabric to start with, it will be fine.
|
It would easily last that long in a quilt, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Watch for fading or yellowing. I bought fabric recently and the bottom pieces that sat on the plastic container had yellowed and where it creased it had faded.

Just check to see how she stored it... make sure that there is no moisture damage and you are fine
Happy Shopping  |
Hope you get a great deal!
