Question about Batting
I'm making a quilt for my GD who lives in FL. What would be the lightest weight batting to use. Since they only get 2 days of winter I don't want anything that would be too heavy or hot. I don't want to quilt it without batting because I want it to have more body than without. TIA

I just made 2 baby quilts for a Dallas, TX friend & just used one layer of an old flannel sheet for batting.
It felt very soft & cuddly. I was very pleased with the result. |
You can use just a layer of muslin for the batting for a really lightweight quilt. A friend of mine has a quilt she used a soy, cotton blend batting in and it's fairly lightweight. Quilter's Dream makes a really thin cotton batting.

For very light weight quilts , I prefer Cream White or Cream Rose, it has a bit more fluff than a flannel or muslin , but its very very light and 100 percent cotton.
I think you would like it for this use ! |
I would use a light weight cotton batting.

I live in Central Florida and I use Hobbs 80/20 cotton/polyester, or Hobbs 80/20 wool/polyester, or warm and natural , or any cotton/poly blend. Since most people in Florida have Central air, (and cotton breathes) cotton batting is fine.

I'm using Quilters Dream 100% cotton batting cld Request. It's really light weight. The Hobbs 100% cotton batting also seemed pretty light weight.
