Question about batting in table toppers

What kind of batting do you put in your table toppers? I don't want puffy, I want it to lie flat. Thanks for info you offer.

Hi rvsfan! This is tapper.

I asked this question a week or so ago. I found the replies very helpful. I still haven't quilted my runners but I plan to use felt. I'll post a link to the post for you.

When you finish your runner, could you post about what you used and how it worked. Would also like to see pics of your finished product...love the pics!

Hey...what's your favorite RVS song. Mine is "I'll Leave This World Loving You".

when i want mine to be flat i use a layer of pre-washed flannel; or just a fusable interfacing. i've used a layer of muslin too. or even thin fleece. depends on how much quilting you want to do on it- the really thin battings tend to need fairly dense (every 2") quilting...so i choose something that does not need to be quilted much--the flannel is my favorite.

Another thought. I have made table toppers and used Ulsulbrite in them That way a hot dish could be put on the topper without a trivet. I have used thin batting in many of my toppers, but just tried out the other so it has another purpose.

Great idea Murphy 1. I hadn't thought of that. Dual purpuse runners!

I use the same fusible fleece I use in my purses, and totes.

I buy felt by the yard and use alone to lay very flat or with insulbrite if it will be used for hot pans.

Is all felt washable and dryable?

This is what I've done and it works well for me!

I am wondering if felt washes and dries nicely also.
