question about cathedral blocks

I'm wondering how I can attach the 4 corners of the block the best as I'm sewing it by hand. What's the best way to do so as I'm sure the quilt will be washed a lot.

If it is a traditional hand sewn cathedral windows, I would ladder stitch the squares together with strong thread (hand quilting thread) and ad a few extra stitches at the intersections.

Couldn't have said it any better than Tartan did.

Thanks a lot for the information, I'm going to give it a try.
