I am not familiar with these fabrics.
I have one piece that I know is the Civil War Era (because it says so on the selvedge) but the other two are without printing on the selvedges.. is there a rule of thumb? I tried to google but it isn't even pulling up the piece I have, not even on eBay or quiltshops.com Do you think the patchwork looking one and the floral one is considered Civil War prints? Thank you for any information |
Some of the on-line fabric shops will have what they call Civil War reproductions. I don't recall off-hand which ones. Keepsake quilting might have some. I don't know enough about them to venture a guess on the ones you have. But they do play nicely together, especially the bottom 2. Did you try googling benartex and see if they have any CW fabrics?

visit the benartex web site, it is right on your salvage. you can find the fabrics there. it is a collection

I love the patchwork looking one!

Sometimes Connecting Thread or Fabric.com has civil war reproductions.

Order the Hancocks of Paducah catalog - it has many, many reproduction fabrics which can give you an idea of what vintage prints look/"feel" like. There are lots of prints out there taken from old mill cards which the manufacturers don't refer to as vintage prints; getting familiar with different periods can lead you to prints that work equally well with "reproduction" fabrics as the ones within the specific pattern's collection. also try Marcus Bro fabrics and Wyndam Fabrics. Both do large amounts of repoduction fabrics. Look for a yahoo group by searching Reporduction Fabrics. There is a group there that chats about reproduction fabrics. There is also a quilt shop out in Montana I believe that only sells repro fabrics. The fabric on the bottom left looks a bit earlier than Civil War. The one on the right is more representative.
