Question about CT flannel

I'm planning to statistics some FQs of flannel from Connecting Threads to prewash/preshrink today. I bought some rich (lovely!) colors--have any of you experienced their bleeding? I had planned to put them all in the washer together with color catchers, but I don't want to wind up with a muddy-colored mess. Thanks!

I used a variety of dark colors, did not prewash and had no bleeding. No reds though, greys, blacks browns and a lighter blue. One of my favorite quilts. Rich colors stayed rich with little to no pilling.

statistics=staystitch blasted autocorrect!

I would guess with the color catchers you should be fine with prewashing. Are you using cold water? I pretty much use cold water for all laundry now with the exception of towels and most whites. Seems to help the colors stay fresh longer and clothes and fabric come out clean!

Maybe no prewashing. I love the feel of them now. They should all shrink fairly equally, and by the time they are quilted, the batting will help stabilize them.

I have used CT flannels for 6 quilts now and they have VERY little shrinkage. The last time I used some, I measured the blocks after the quilt was finished and washed. The entire quilt - finished size 62" square measured a little over 61" square after it was washed. So I lost less than inch on an entire quilt top.

And if you love the feel and softness of it before washing it only gets better.

I did a kit quilt top from Connecting Threads recent catalogue and pre-washed the flannel - no problems with colours running but I had major shrinkage - this is the first time I have ever not had enough fabric in one of their kits to make it up. The majority of the quilt was from 2 1/2 inch strips and because of shrinkage I could not get enough pieces cut from each strip set - they did offer me a few fat quarters but from my calculations that would not be enough, so I changed how I was going to do the quilt.
I was very disappointed in this outcome.

I have had very good luck with connecting threads flannel too. It washes beautifully in my experience.

Thanks everyone--I'm looking forward to using this lovely fabric, and it's nice to know that many of you have had good results. I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

I hardly had any shrinkage at all with mine.
