Question about Embird - embroidery software

I know this isn't about quilting per se, but over the past several days I've been looking through the archives, and have seen several references to EMBIRD, and it seemed that several folks had good things to say about it. I've had my Janome 11000 for a little over a year now, and am getting ready to make the investment in embroidery software that will make managing my files easier. I am still pretty much intimidated by the embroidery function, and that intimidation is exacerbated by the fact that I don't have a software program that makes it easy to save files in logical folders. I really want a program that will give me thumbnails of each of my files, and it appears that Embird will do that - but it looks like that function is an additional cost add on. If someone, or several someones out there could/would tell me what they like/don't like about Embird (or any other comparable software program) i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

If all you want is a 'storage' facility for your designs have you looked at BuzzTools? I have a very old version and it converts designs from one format to another and brings up your designs in pictures. Not sure of the cost now, but it was always much cheaper than the software that went with the machines.
