OK I washed some pink cotton fabric and now I can't figure out witch is the front and witch side is the back. Is there a way to know? I usually can tell , but some solids like this one I have a problem telling for sure. Anyone have any tips ?

If the front and back look the same, it won't matter which way you put it.

Look at the selvage..that can usually help a little.

Thanks for your reply I'll just use any side with it then.
Hugs

That's what I general do but this piece had been given to me and the salvage had been cut off already, so I washed it and
now I couldn't really tell witch side was what..lol. I know one side looks a tad smoother , but not by much

Just use which ever side you want. I've used the backside of fabrics before if the front is just a tad too bright for what I'm working on.

If you want to keep track, I use a needle and thread, either lighter or darker, and put a little stitch on the right side, tie a little knot and after it is washed, I just look for that stitch and know that it is the right side

Thank you dkabasketlady and Pam I appreciate
your answers and I'll do this the next time I wash my fabric
Pam, I had never thought of doing that , a Great ideal.

If you can't see the difference I'd say you can use either side.

Pickles 01-31-2010 09:50 PM

Thanks Littlehud , I'll do that, since I can't tell the difference with this pink fabric.
