I bought a featherweight on ebay, it looks like new and sews good. It came from an estate sale , I don't think it had been used very much, the case is in perfect condition just smells musty.
The problem I have is the peddle with the little tiny part that you push down, do you use your toe or heel. Not sure how to turn it and I think it may be sticking, when I push it all way down it doesn't stop until I push it again.
I know a lot of you have them , I'm hopeing someone can help me. Thanks

I sew barefoot and use my big toe on the button. I don't think this was how the foot controll was meant to be used but it works for me. Mine hasn't ever been sticky so I can't help you there. Maybe the foot controll needs cleaning, someone here must have an answer for you. Enjoy your new baby!

One of my featherweights has a replacement foot pedal that is just like a regular one. I really prefer using this to the original button kind since I sew barefooted too. I'm thinking of getting another so I can have both set up at one time (light thread on one, dark on the other). I think the replacement runs about $16.

I didn't like that foot control so my husband changed it to a newer style. I just store the old one in the case since I don't use it. Anyone that knows basic wiring can change it.

There may be a short in the pedal's wiring.

It couldn't hurt to open the foot pedal and see if there is an easily solved, obvious problem inside it.

Thanks where did you get your replacement pedal ?

There is a man in Florida, Glenn Williams, who sells parts for Featherweights and is very helpful.

My repair man changed mine the last time I had it cleaned and gone over. The other one worked but had to sew barefoot and it bugged me. He told me to save it in case I ever sell it, so did.
