My closest Joann's is about a 3 hour drive away, so I can only order on line. I hesitate to do that for over a year now because the price changes when the item goes into the shopping cart!

For an easy example (I'm making this up):

Advertised - - "All 8" Scissors 50% off"
So I decide on an 8" scissors and in the pic it's regularly priced at $12. That has a slash through it and it says, "sale $6.
I click on "add to cart" and in the cart the price is suddenly $7.50. This is before shipping or tax.

This has happened to me repeatedly over the past year. I phoned their customer service and was first told that the sale was over. Not true, just started that AM. When the girl agreed she said that not all sizes, or colors or whatever were on sale, which is contrary to what's stated in the add, and on the first page on the internet. I would agree with that (although misleading) BUT................. the item IS on sale till it gets into the cart!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has this happened to anyone else and if so what was the resolution? I haven't placed an order with them for over a year now.

I don't order from them often but when I have I've been satisfied.
Maybe you should email customer service with the info you posted here.

I have a local JoAnns a few miles from where I live. I still order online for the ease of having it delivered and often because they have more online than in the store. I have never had a price change and I have been doing this for many years. And the coupons work online as well.

Yes I have had that happen. More than once. I have a couple of ideas. First sometimes the online sales are different than the store sales. Did you have a coupon listed in the coupon box when you added your items? It will give you the "real" price and then take the coupon off instead of the sale price. My third idea is that they just have a screw up in their programming like in the first few hours of a sale of the last few hours of a sale, the site does freaky things.

I think it's in the programming on the internet, but don't want to have to pay more that what is advertised. As I said, I spoke to them on the phone and really didn't get a resolution. So I guess I'm no longer a Joann's shopper!

kathome: Send an e-mail or call their corporate office and complain about the person you spoke to (they evidently do not know what they are doing) and complain about the difference in prices. Be sure to call the corporate office - not the on-line sales number. Also, be sure to ask if the on-line coupon is honored even tho the item is on sale. In-store, the coupon wouldn't work on a sale item.
