question about lables
I have quilt blocks that my aunt and I made years ago. I finally got around to finish them and hand quilted them. Now what and how do I word a label? Do I put my name and aunts name or just Mama and Aunt Jo.
I will probably put Blocks made by? & ? in the 1960's- Quilted by ? in 2014 Does that sound right or do you have other ideas? Which will be greatly appreciated! Thanks |
Blocks made by first and maiden and last name and her aunt first maiden and last. Date. And quilted by first name and date. I do a lot of genealogy. Maiden names are important.

Another nice piece of information would be where "Mama" and Aunt Jo lived when the blocks were pieced or when the quilt was finished. The name of the quilt, if it was a pattern designed by someone it is nice to give them credit. Was it hand or machine pieced? Nice to put that you hand quilted it on there too. The last two are especially important when it comes to washing the quilt - I will toss my machine quilted quilts in the washer and dryer and that is something I would never do with a quilt that was hand pieced and quilted.

Thanks for your replies !!! The quilt blocks were hand quilted , so I hand quilted the quilt. There were enough to make 3 quilts for my kids and just finished them and am ready to put the labels on and finally finish them!!!
