Everytime I read about the fun people are having making pillowcases...I think to myself that I need to ask about this. So, since I just read another "pillowcases" comment, I am going to ask. Are these regular pillowcases for bed pillows...or are these pillowcases for some other purpose or decoration? Do you buy regular pillowcases to use...or do you sew them yourself? Any clarity you can share with me will be very much appreciated.
I only had one lap quilt and table runner to finish...I put the quilt in the mail last week and the runner in the gift bag this afternoon. It feels good for this newbie! It's the first year that I have quilted anything. Thanks for you help! Have a blessed Christmas! Audrey :) |
I make them to use on regular bed pillows. I don't buy regular pillowcases, just the cotton to make the cases. There are you tube videos that are really good.
Edit: Here is one from Missouri Star http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrYWC...ayer_embedded# |
For bed pillows, it is fun to make matching ones to "wrap" a new quilt in for gift giving :D:D:D

Hello. I am a newby too so I can't be to much help, however, if you will go to the search option above and search for " tube pillowcases " , you will see what people are making. They are on my after the holidays project list.
Merry Christmas. |
I love making these pillows...I do the french seams...and if you add more fabric think its 36 inches for the king size pillow...

They are pillow cases for a regular bed pillow. I made them for all 13 of my grandchildren and put a new pillow in each one. The trip to Walmart to buy all the pillows was quite an adventure! Kids love them!

I absolutely LOVE homemade pillowcases and love making them. They are such fun and simple to make. I have solid sheets and will make printed pillowcases to compliment solid sheets and I love the warm, country look. Just google pillowcases and several sites will come up. Good luck and have fun!

There is also a big drive to make a million pillowcases for charity.

Thank you everyone!! I think I will be trying it out myself, They do look like a lot of fun!

I made about a dozen for christmas gifts. I made quite a few pairs with flannel. They came out adorable. Especially for kids, they are so soft and cozy and they have the most adorable prints in flannels now. The small accent piece can be cotton and doesn't have to be flannel. Fun to make. Watch the Missouri Star Quilt co. tutorial. It is all explained.
