Thanks for this thread. I made a "postage stamp" quilt this summer and did not know that it had a name. I have been on a journey to use up scraps and so far have four tops in one stage of completion or another. I still have a grocery bag full of scraps. It seems the more I make, the more the scraps multiply. I may return to postage stamp to get the scraps out of my life.

I "had" a photo box full of 1 1/2" sqs that became beginners and enders and now have all been sewn together becoming my first Postage stamp quilt, a table runner. Was a great way to empty the box. Now to do my next box in line - 2" sqs, smile.

They are two different animals. The postage stamp is made of a gazillion small squares and the log cabin is strips around a center square.
I recently finised a Steps to the alter which is similar to the postage stamp. They are alot of fun and eat up all your scraps but time consuming, all those little pieces. EDIT: Great tutorial Peckish. That's how I did mine along with piecing individuals squares to use them up. The using them up part didn't work! :-D |
I love looking at the postage stamp quilts but I'm already 1/2 crazy... this would push me over the edge Ha ha
