I'm planning to make some quilts for Project Linus, and have a question.

Do they tell you when your quilt has been given to a child? It doesn't really matter as long as the quilt goes towards its intended purpose, but it would be nice to know a child received it ... if that makes sense. :)

Actually, make that two questions.

Are the quilts given anonymously, or do they tell the child and his/her family who donated the quilt? I'd prefer to remain anonymous.

Thanks!

P.S. I looked at the Quilts for Kids program, but they don't have a local chapter in my area. Project Linus does, so I could just drop off the quilts to them rather than have to pay shipping and all that.
:)

I have donated many quilts to Project Linus, but never heard where they went or when they were given to anyone. I just pack 'em up and mail them to my chapter manager and that's about it.

if you do not put a label with your name on the quilt it remains anonymous. you may still want to put a label with the name of the quilt, laundry instructions and maybe the town you live in and the year. the families like seeing where the quilts come from. usually you do not know when a quilt is actually received by a child with the linus project. with the downy program you can register your quilt on line and you do find out when a child receives the quilt. I have given quite a few project linus quilts in the past few years and have been told about a few children who received one of mine (the person telling me the story did not know i was the one who made the quilt she was talking about
