I'm working on a paper pieced wall hanging with stars and I was thinking of doing a piece of applique on it that is from a tv show. It would fit the theme perfectly but I'm concerned it would be disqualified for using copyright material. Does anyone know if it would?

Usually you have to say where the pattern came from. So, on your entry form and the label it would say the source of the pattern. That would cover it.

Every non national quilt show I have been too, especially the local ones, have a lot of quilts made from books, patterns, or magazines. Some list in the description made or adapted from the pattern designed by: in the book/mag : Some don't.

This is what I was thinking more or less.... I'd like to applique a small TARDIS on it somewhere. The theme is Escape I was thinking something like escape to time and space with the TARDIS.... Hopefully you guys get the reference....

The word "TARDIS" is a registered trademark of the BBC and could be a problem. However, the TARDIS itself is nothing more than an old British police box, so there should be nothing to stop you from appliqueing that.

Ok.... So I can do a box just not call it TARDIS... right? I can do that....
