okay I have a question for those who would know. My SIL is wanting to make a rag quit out of old T-shirts. I am going to cut them out and add boarders around them to make them all the same size. my question is do you think that I need to add stabilizer to them if I iron them fusible batting? I plan on starching them to death to help me cut them out. do I need the stabilizer for that? or will the starch work?

t-shirt fabric does not fray like denim or flannel because it's knit instead of woven.

you might want to take an old part of it, cut out a square, and snip around the four sides, and see if that's the look you really want.

And I would say yes, you want the stabilizer on the back of the shirts . The fabric is stretchy and easy to get out of shape

I am sewing flannel to the T-shirt to boarder it and that is what will be ragging. I am doing this mostly because the while the t-shirts are all the same size the pics on them might not be. they are my SIL's and I don't have them right now. I am just trying to figure out if I need to use a stabilizer like pellon or if starch will work.
