I'm making a sweatshirt jacket and I'm placing quilters cotton on top of the sweatshirt (store bought).
My question.... I want to quilt it on my sewing machine, with the sweatshirt and fabric on top only. Will this be ok or do I need to put something under the sweatshirt fabric? Am I going to have a problem free motion quilting it? Everything has been prewashed. Thanks. |
I would put a stabilizer behind the sweatshirt to keep it from stretching as you sew.

I am no expert! but I think you would have to put some kind of batting between the 2. I would so that you can tell it is quilted.

In sweatshirts I have done, Ihave not used any batting between the quilted fabric and sweatshirt fabric. However, you should use a stabilizer beneath the sweatshirt before you do you free motion quilting on it. I am afraid that coupling batting in between the layers with the fleece of the sweatshirt might make your jacket too bulky and way too hot to be comfortable.

Thanks you everyone! :D
I just don't want the pieced fabrics to puff out is why I think quilting it would be better, to make stay down. |
