Question about t-shirt quilt

A friend of mine is going to make her first t-shirt quilt. When she went to her JoAnns to buy the stabilizer the lady told her she used muslin and spray basted it to the t-shirt. Has any one done one this way and how did it work?

They always tell me to use Pellon (iron-on and sticky on one side). light weight.

I'd use a fusible that will stay on the fabric. No offense to anyone here who works at Joann's, but I would never ask an employee from either of the Joann's I go to for advice.

I use Pellon 911.

Three layers of fabric - the shirt, muslin and backing - along with the batting, is going to make for a very heavy quilt. Stick with featherweight interfacing.....

Pellon 911 -- which they sell at JoAnn's

I too would be concerned about weight and worry that the edges if not glued down properly would still pull/roll.

I have used the Pellon 911 and also the Tricot fusible. Both gave great results. I agree that the muslin would make it too heavy. I would worry that it would shrink unevenly with the shirt. JMHO..
