Anybody have the Viking Sapphire 835 machine and what do you think about it? Pros vs Cons? I am THIS close to buying one......
|
I've considered one myself because I already have several Husq Viking machines and wouldn't buy anything else...They are wonderful because of the sensor foot for applique and pivoting...can't beat that...If I remember correctly it does not have a threader which was a minus for me and also not all the build in quilting stitches I was looking for that my other machine Husq Viking SE has...So I passed. But it's a great machine but I'm thinking of getting a more upgraded Husq in the near future.

Did you already read the previous discussions on the forum at
http://www.quiltingboard.com/search....ire+835&u=&s=0 After you check those out, maybe ask a few specific questions & those of us with Sapphires might be able to give even more insight (I have the 870Q) |
I've got the 830 (previous model) and I love it! It takes a little getting used to it when you go from a standard machine to one with a computer, but I didn't mind. The dealer I purchased from offers unlimited classes on it, so that was a major selling point for me. I went in a few times with it at first. She was very knowledgeable and helpful.
This was my 2nd Viking machine. The first lasted me about 16 years. I was sad to see it go, but thought it better to put the $300-400 repair charge towards a new machine because of it's age. I would happily buy another Viking! The large throat area makes it much easier to quilt large quilts. So far the largest I've done was twin size. I plan to do larger, but by quilting in sections. It's hard on the shoulders to handle the weight. ;) Is there anything in particular you want to know about it? |
Thx for the opinions ladies, but I think the Viking is a little more machine than I really need at this time so I am just going to upgrade my Brother to another Brother. I saw the one I want today and it's better priced and also has a lot to offer. It's more what I need now so I will be purchasing it next week! Can't wait!

Just wanted to add further comment re: too much machine at this time...I just wanted to pass on my experience with that thought when I just wanted a cheap embroidery machine.
I bought one from Husq and then 4 mths later found I needed more and ended up buying the combo SE...So I could have saved myself 800.00 from the beginning. Just food for thought... |
