Question about Washable Markers

I have used washable markers to mark my quilts, and they washed out fine. My question is how long can I leave the markings on before washing out? After a week, I started to get nervous that it might create a "memory" or faded line. I have to mark the quilting lines all over because I'm new at FMQ. And I can't always count on finishing because Mom's care comes first.

I used a purple Crayola Washable marker on a quilt and it was three week before I could get it quilted. I've washed it twice, the second time with Spray n Wash and the lines are still there. Ended up shoving the quilt top in a drawer...so disappointed.

I’ve used crayola ultra clean washable markers without any problems. There are times it’s been months before the quilt is finished & washed. Follow the washing instructions on the box.

Never had a problem with Crayola Ultra Washable markers. I may leave it on the quilt top for weeks before quilting it. My fabric is starched before I cut it so maybe the fabric threads are coated.

The small washable pip squeaks do NOT easily wash off of any surface, whereas the ultra comes off with the first drop of water. I have only once had a problem getting the ultra out, and that is when I marked the quilt AFTER it was sandwiched.

I have used the crayola ultra washable markers for some time. I use them pretty heavy too. I know I have left them on for a few weeks.

I can say that I do pretreat before I wash. I dilute dish soap (Dawn works but I have also used Ajax just fine) I water it down like 50/50 or 30/70 (soap to water) then I spray it all over. I let it sit for a few minutes.. Knock on wood everything has washed out fine
