"We have a thread here called "Newbies Challenge", by 'crazyquilter'

Here is the basic idea..."I would like to challenge all the "veteran" quilters on this board to find a "newbie" and adopt one. I have taken one under my wing, so to speak and I am teaching her to quilt via this board, e-mail and the phone.
There are some "newbies" out there that would probably welcome our help and guidance and have lots of questions that maybe they are too shy to ask, or they may not know how to ask about certain things, for fear that they will be considered "dumb questions".So, QUILTERS,UNITE!!!"

This thread has reached 77 pages in just a couple days so there are lots of interested parties.

My question is: Is there a way to build a list of willing 'quilting mommies' and 'quilting kids' that want to adopt or be adopted? It would make it easier to find each other. I have a 'quilting kid' already, but I am willing to take on one more for basic quilt making. Can you help him/her find me, or me them?

One member started this, and then she had things come up and hasn't been able to continue with it.

I wouldn't mind adopting one or two folks. I looked at that list but there are no dates on it so you can't tell how long someone has been on the list or if they even need to be adopted anymore without going up and down the list to see who has been adopted. I wouldn't mind helping because I'm not working and am on the computer pretty much all day (most of it on this board :oops: ). I volunteered to be matched up with someone in another recent post but haven't heard back from them.

So, is this waiting on Admin?

nope. it's waiting on one or more members to volunteer to take on the task of renewing and maintaining the activity. the existing/previous thread was fairly informal, which is just fine. however, if members want to turn it into a formal activity that requires hosting, tracking, etc, we'll need a volunteer to do the work involved.

if somebody is willing to take on this job they should contact me. we'll establish a clear and mutual understanding of how it should work and what the volunteer will need to do to keep it going properly. :-)
