If you want to use a panel as is, you can add borders until it is the size you want.
Or you can add a border to make the center of the quilt a good size to add rows of blocks. Then add an outer border or two. |
If you mean you want to include in her quilt panels using other Hollywood stars, you could make each into a square like the pic you posted and in the blue, write/stitch/embroider names of her (their) movies and one of her (their) famous quotes, or best line from those movies, or focus on your favorite movie and embellish it from that. I wouldn't add much color as you may lose "her" in it. I like the beaded touch, too.

The recent book, Panel Play by Barbara Becker, has lots of patterns and information on working with panels. The "odd" sizing, grain and different sized blocks are addressed. Lots of good ideas!

Look at equilter.com. They have a section with free patterns and many of them incorporate panels.

I've made a ton of panel quilts for grandkids. Made one with a wolf print in the center surrounded by a border, then some pinwheels, then leafy outdoorsy prints and it turned out very nice. He said it was "magnificent"..HA! You are the artist, do what you want!

HI! I have recently purchased AUDREY HEPBURN ICON PANEL fabric. I really want to make a quilt out of it (and other panels that I have), but I can't find ANY patterns. Does this make sense? Has anyone seen any patterns to help incorporate these sorts of panel fabrics? THANK YOU!!!! I'm sort of at a loss with this one.
