All I know is what the Juki rep told me. Any other brand of needle may have a slight off dimension and by keep trying to make the threader work it actually damages it. Same with the bobbins. Bobbins and needles are inexpensive so use the ones recommended by the manufacturer. He told me skipped stitches, bad tension, thread breakage, unbalanced stitches, and other annoying things are usually from using the wrong needle and or bobbin.

I use Gutermann 50 weight thread for piecing and quilting. I also use Organ needles, and like the titanium ones as they really seem to last longer.

Have never had problems with any threads. Most used are Masterpiece, So-Fine, Cairo Quilt, Primo Soft, Glide
Needle size per weight of thread always titanium. Needle threader difficult to use .

I have the 2200 QVP Mini which is the same machine rebadged. I've used several different threads on it. I have pretty good luck with most threads as long as I do the machine set-up exactly as it says in the manual. I had to tweak the tension a bit when using Invisafil and some random multi colored thread I got at the LQS, but once I worked the tension out it was fine.

I agree about the needle threader. I never have been able to use mine.

I use Aurafil 50wt or Gutterman 50wt and Superior titanium tip needles...size depending on whether I am FPP, piecing or quilting. Love my needle threader, never had a problem once I understood how to do it.

I use Organ needles and any thread as my machine isn’t picky. I can’t get the needle threader to work and I’ve watched every video out there dozens of times! The needle threader on my Juki Exceed 600 works perfectly and easily every time so I wish Juki could get it “right” on this machine.

I can't get my threader to work either. I use the Organ needles like they said, I also use 50 wt thread but I have a problem with my thread steady breaking.

There was a time when I only used Aurifil because for a cotton thread it is not excessively linty and great colors. When I started doing lots of FMQ I switched to polyester threads. My juki sews at a high rate of speed and the cotton thread made way too much lint and broke frequently. I've found that I can use pretty much any thread. The tension needs to be tweaked for some. Perhaps the little wire arm is just a hair out of line. Put your needle at the highest point and slowly swing your needle threader down. Watch carefully to see where the wire hits.

I love this machine. I use it exclusively for piecing and fmq. I only use my Bernina for embroidery, machine applique or fancy stitches.

However, I recently had to take it in for service due to "nesting" and skipped stitches. I had taken numerous steps to try and fix it at home, with no luck. I was using a Topstitch #70/10 needle as recommended by Superior.

As it turns out, I recently started using Superior Thread's Microquilter thread. According to the service person, the bobbin tension had to be adjusted to accommodate this 100 wt. thread. I have not had any problems since he did that. I like the Microquilter because I can load a lot more thread on the bobbin because it is so thin. Don't have to change the bobbin as frequently. So, if you use a thin thread in the bobbin, you may have to adjust the bobbin thread.

I have also used Superior Thread's Bottom Line in the bobbin, with no problems. But, my service rep warned me that I might have problems using thicker thread, such as Aurifil, and may need to have the bobbin tension adjusted back.
