You might want to try different threads on your machine to find out which one gives you the least trouble with tension and breakage, then stock up on that thread. I have used A&E Perma Core, Tex 30, in my Gammill since I purchased it 15 years ago. It comes in many, many colors. I purchase online from several different places including Kingsmen Quilting Supply, The Quilted Rose and Nustyle at Stover, MO.

A&E Permacore is what I've used for a long time. I like tex 40, but 30 works too. (Tex is the strength of the thread, it is not the same as the weight.) There are 250+ color choices. This is important for me... Most companies carry all the neutrals, which is maybe 30 colors, it's finding the ones that match or will work with your quilt. So if a line of thread has say 50 colors, that's the same 25 that everyone else has and 20 more. No one location carries all the colors. Thanks for the list of sources.

Omni and Bottom Line (Superior Threads) also work

My machine will break threads with a Tex below 28, so Glide doesn't work. Check your machine for breaking.

One important issue for longarm machines; because they stitch FAST, they make a lot of lint which interferes with the machine making proper stitchs. So, I'm careful to stick with threads that have the lowest lint. Some cones I've moved from LA usage to domestic machine usage. I've had the same problem with machine embroidery.

A&E Permacore is also offered by these online businesses
Columbia River Quilting Supplies
Red Rock Threads
Linda's Electric Quilters
Texas Specialties
I don't remember which of these I've purchased from, so can't say anything about their service

I use Signature thread and buy it online from Kingsmen Quilting Supply. Theirs is the best price I've found, and they ship fast. You don't have to pay online. You can mail a check if you prefer that, as I do.

I use the thread from Connecting Threads. Essential something or other. Big cones and a great price. I do not quilt much for $ and the few I do---no one cares anything about the thread.

I use glide thread also, and the magna glide bobbins. I have a gammill plus and I don't have to keep adjusting my tension. There is a earlier comment that tells you where to order it.

I bought my LA from a friend and she always used Signature thread. I buy my thread from this web site:

I buy at shows and off of the internet. Also I bought from the store I bought my long arm from.

I use mostly OMNI and Glide thread off of large cones. I have a Innova and no problems with breakage.

Permacore was suggested when I bought my Gammil 11 years ago. No problems with it ever.

I use Connecting Threads Pro thread. My machine loves it and it's reasonable. The only downside is that the colors they offer are limited and the colors seem to change as to what they have available.

I order from Red Rock threads...I love the Permacore.
