Question for the Math People

I have some strip sets left over from a lonestar-type project. I want to use them in a similar, but different quilt. My question is: Each diamond of the star I have already made used 6 strips. I want to use 7 so that the star is larger. Since the center would still equal 360 degrees, because the 7th strip would be up further and would just extend the depth of the strip, wouldn't 7 work and not be too big to make it come together in a flat star? I don't want to put together a "dummy" block if this dummy is off kilter. Done with ripping, I hope, for a while. It seems to make sense to me, but my brothers are the engineers in this family and I was into bookkeeping and unfortunately geometry wasn't covered there. It feels right, but that doesn't make it right. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I can't see where there would be any problem adding one strip to you strip sets. I think you would just need to cut one more diamond strip per star point. Just MHO

I'll wait for someone to chime in too. it seems to me if you don't do your seams correctly on a Dresden plate, it won't lay flat. I'm wondering about doing a larger diamond and fitting them together into a star.

The angle depends on the number of pieces in the center of your star. If I understand you correctly, you are making a lone star with 7 strips in your strip set, but you will still have 8 diamonds in the center, like the quilt in the picture below. If so (8 diamonds), you would cut the same angle from your strip set no matter how many strips it contains.

you can have as many strips as you want- as long as you have 8 sections to form your star. make sure everything is cut at the same angle.
