Ok, I have a top that is unwashed. How much rouble will I have if I use a backing that is possibly/probably washed??
Would like some tips, advise. Thanks, Michele |
It wouldn't concern me to do this at all. Some fabrics shrink more/less than others, so I doubt you'd ever know the difference.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. Some batts say to wash before using. I have never done that. I can't imagine what would happen to a batt if I put it in the washing machine. I certainly am not going to wash something like that by hand unless it is for a doll quilt size piece. If the quilt is meant to hang on the wall it will probably never be washed anyway. If it does shrink horribly it wasn't good fabric to begin with.
Good luck. |
I wouldnt worry either. You can quilt a little closer together to contain the layers even better.
One thing I can recommend NOT to do: wash the unfinished top. I HAD to wash a top I got from my MIL and it was nasty. So I washed it and now I still have to wrangle the mangled mess of seams. |
If it really concerns you, I would quilt it a little more heavily as a precaution. I use mixed washed/unwashed a lot and never have problems :D:D:D

Thank you all for the answers. I think I will try it.

I don't think it would be a big deal.
