Which do you feel is the best cutting mat and why? I need to get a 24 x 36 cutting mat and am wondering if one is better than the other. My Walmart has the fiskers on clearance for $27.00. Michaels has the olfa for $56.00. Do you prefer one over the other?

I love my June Taylor cutting mat. Guess that isn't much help!

I've had both brands and don't think one is better than the other. I got my Olfa mat at Joanne's with a coupon, and I think it was still $40. I'd go for the Fiskars for the price.
|
I have had both.. I think my Olfa is lasting longer than the Fiskars.
|
I started with the Fiskars about 10 years ago, it's still doing fine. I also happen to like the Fiskars rotary cutter handle best.
|
I asked this question a while back and got lots of feedback.. Many said the Olfa had a bad odor... I bought new Fiskars and there is no outgassing with them...
and got them at Joann's with 50% off coupon that I got online.. |
I have both and do not see a difference between the two. Get the one that is the cheapest. They are both good mats

My Fiskars mat is over 10 years old and still going strong; June Tailor was destroyed in less than a year. My cutters are Olfa.
|
Olfa, Fiskars, and June Tailor are good cutter mat products.
I personally do NOT like Dritz. Use a good quality rotary cutter (like Olfa) and you won't have any problems with any of these cutter mats. |

Just make sure it is self healing mat

I think my new ones are Fiskers, soo much nicer than the Olfa, and two sided! yellow and light green.
|
Self healing!!

Actually, I prefer my Martelli. It has held up for years! My others had limited lives.

I've only used Fiskars and have had the 24x36 for 15 years now and it's still perfect. I have some pretty deep 45 degree grooves in my large mat (also a Fiskars) but it's still very useable and expect to have it another 5 years at least. I also use Fiskars rotary cutters. Love the ergonomic handles!

Omnigrid is pretty good too.
Use the backside if you have deep grooves in the front. I don't know about the Clover mats, but my choices in the past have been Olfa, Fiskars, June Tailor, Omnigrid and last choice Dritz. The Olfa's are wonderful but when you notice a warp, you need to access this right away. |
