I recently became the very proud owner of a Creative Vision 5.5. So far, all I've done is patchwork with it. The sound it makes is quite different from my other, older Pfaffs and my DH wonders if it is supposed to sound this way. I don't know how to describe it except to say it sounds kind of 'thunky' if that makes any sense. The question -- is this a normal sound?

pfaff usully purrs--i would hve it checked /check out the sound of the shops machine

Have you tried oiling it and changing the needle? Sometimes that is all it takes.

My Pfaff, which is a 5.0 CV, has a chunky sound to it. As opposed to my Brother which purrs...

Possibly a dull needle? A bit of oil? Hope it is an easy fix!

I have the Pfaff Expression but it purrs!

NO OIL! not necessary. No, no, no.
That's a question I asked my Pfaff dealer (if it ever needed oil). Definitely a NO. Your CV5.5 is all digital. Now, the needle is another thing... I have a Creative 2170, almost 3 yo. It sounds a bit "thunky", but I'd been away from it awhile and maybe I didn't remember it. I changed the needle, no change in the "thunkiness". (It's overdue for it's maintenance.) I was also sewing thru 7-8 layers of fabric, etc. Get it checked, it's free and better to find out now. |
my expression 4.0 has a sounds rough too. The dealer said it was because it's bigger than my old pfaff, a classic style quilter, which was smooth. I am not familiar with your machine but Idon't think a bigger, more expensive machine should ride rough. I fell it almost has a shimmey to it. I liked my old phaff alot

It doesn't sew rough, it just has a different sound. I guess I'll call the dealer tomorrow if for no other reason than to satisfy my husband!!

I had a 1471 purchased in 1987 and it was soooo quiet. Now I have a Quilt Expression 4.0 and Creative Vision 5.0. They both have the same sound that you are describing and it is considerably louder than my old one.
