If you've run out of beds, run of wall space, have some quilts hanging on a quilt hanger (the kind that sits on the floor), what other ways have you 'displayed' your quilts? Do you throw them over couches and chairs? On the dining table? On the coffee table? Did you buy a 'cupboard' and keep your quilts folded and displayed on there?

How many quilts do you store away, and never see the light of day?

I'm looking for creative ideas for displaying quilts when you've run out of walls, beds, chairs, and couches...

When do you have just way too many quilts (but, really, does anyone have way too many quilts)?

I'm really attached to the quilts I make, it's hard for me to give them up. Yet, I keep making more.

I have the usual quilts thrown about the furniture and a few hanging on the wall. The place I keep my finished quilts is on a bed in the spare bedroom. I have dozens of them on it. I can just fold back the quilts to show people who want to see them and then fold them right back in place. The newest quilt I make goes on top. If I ever have to vacate in a hurry, my quilts are in one place requiring one big swoop to get them.

I had posted this on the links page awhile back. It also shows using a quilt as a headboard, which I think is a really neat idea! Quite a few other ideas too!

There is a neat "Quilt Chest", that I have seen at quilt shows. They are available in different sizes. It's built like a chest but the sides are clear glass or plastic. You fold your quilts and place them in the chest but they are visible for everyone to see. At most larger quilt shows there is a vendor that sells them. You can also use a quilt rack. They hold a few quilts and don't hardly take up any room.

I can't imagine having that many quilts that I run out of room! We have four kids, and so far only one has a quilt on their bed. The ones I've been making lately have been given away.

Before I got a rail to hang my quilt tops off while they're waiting to be sandwhiched, I would hang them over the door to my sewing room. I put a pot plant holding the door open to remind me not to try shutting it.

My husband has built me 2 quilt ladders I can display my quilt on. I LOVE THEM.. I get to see all the quilts and unfinished tops at a glance!

I have one of the quilt chest that was mentioned on this topic and also two quilt racks. The last quilt rack I bought at a garage sale for $ 4.00 in good condition. The quilt chest is nice I have it in my living room it takes a little time to get the quilts folded nice to put in there but well worth the work.

i used them for cornice boards and roman shades on my windows - and it helps to keep the house warm during NY winters.

That was a great link, thanks for posting it. I looked at it on your original post and that had some terrific ideas. I liked the ladder hung horizontal and also the picket fence idea (and many, mnay others....)

Now I just have to keep at it so I can make some to display.....

Mine seem to end up piled on all the beds here. If I start to feel like I have too many maybe I will start giving them away. Maybe.

Hi, I took the folding doors off of my closet in my sewing room and had a friend of my daughter's put closet rods across the opening. There are now 3 rods across it and I hang my extra quilts there, it covers the closet opening and I have a Valance at the top like a window. It works really well, I must have 12 to 15 hung there, and if I need to put more, I just fold the old ones one more time and slide them over. ha :D

You sound just like me. I counted mine this week and I have 53 at my house and that's not counting the 25 I have given away. But I just keep making them just like I've got good sense. lol So many quilts so little time.

Went to all the sites and loved all the ideas. Then ask DH to build me a chest with clear sides. Thanks for all the sites!

I have several mounted wooden brackets and use a wooden curtain rod and change the quilts out.

Several years back I bought several unfinished quilt rack kits at Michaels. My DH finished them and I have them in several rooms. you can display 3 quilts or if you fold them right you could display 6 on each rack.
