When you say fabric stores do you mean like Joans Fabric, Hancocks, and places that carry flats?

reeskylr 05-14-2011 09:28 AM

Moda isn't cheap, but just feeling the fabric is like silk. It's a beautiful line. I have three yards I bought from my local quilt shop. I don't even want to cut into it. lol, I just sit and touch it.

Is that strange or what?

I don't know if my Joanne's carries it or not. Hm...I don't usually look at their lines that are 9.98 a yard. Unless there is a huge sale on them.

frarose 05-14-2011 09:49 AM

Nope not strange at all. I am the same way. I have lots of nice fabric that I can't stand to cut. Just want to look at it and feel it ;)

I have bought from Missouri quilt and loved what I purchased

AUQuilter 05-14-2011 09:58 AM

Burkholders Fabrics Denver, PA
http://www.burkfabrics.com/Store/pc/home.asp

Right now they have a 25% off everything so with discount Moda is about $6 a yd. They have almost 1100 choices.

Thanks to others for great sites I had not checked out before.

vcinwa 05-14-2011 10:25 AM

Try fabricdepot.com, they carry Moda fabric and are having a 35% off sale right now. eQuilter.com is great and have a large selection. Hancock's of Paducah also. And thousandsofbolts.com has great prices, but their selection can be slim.

Happy Tails 05-14-2011 11:16 AM

I buy all my Moda fabric either on Ebay or from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

cowgirlquilter 05-14-2011 11:20 AM

I have used ebay exclusively and buy fat quarters, jelly rolls and the occasional yardage, and find rock bottom prices.
When entering I search specifically for Moda, and the better vendors have listed it that way.

Just paid only $7.00 for a package of 32 5 inch precut squares......

Jennifer22206 05-14-2011 11:38 AM

http://craftconn.com They have a huge selection of Moda Marbles.

quiltybarb 05-14-2011 11:48 AM

Can't believe they never heard of it either....

I have never been to a quilt shop that didn't have some Moda fabric. Either precuts or yardage. A fabric store that caters to dressmaking, drapery, etc may not know about it but any fabric store that sells quilt fabric should know about Moda.

This is really nice site if you are looking for Moda. I am wanting to make quilt in "PINK" and pattern calls for jelly rolls. I think that Moda is the only one who sells jelly rolls. this site has the jelly roll and also has a picture of all the coordinating fabric for it. I though that I wanted one pattern but after seeing all the fabric I changed my mind. I guess that I will have to cut my own. I really go not mind cutting. It is picking out 40 colors that gives me a headache!!! Any Ideas ladies!

Boslie 05-14-2011 01:40 PM

Try the online store called e-quilter or equilter. I have ordered from there. If anyone has anything, they will have it. Very satisfied with the fabric and service.

Shorebird 05-14-2011 01:40 PM

on line for Moda fabrics = www.webfabrics.com

google it.......she as oodles and oodles of moda fabrics.....great customer service!!

Diane, you say fabric stores.... Do you mean stores that sell designer fabrics, and decorator fabrics, and bridal fabrics, not so much for quilting? I can understand why Moda wouldn't be common in many fabric stores.

You need a quilt shop. I think there's a huge difference between sewing and quilting. We quilters have different needs. We speak different language. Even our seams are different! Quarter inch for us and 5/8 inch for the clothing seamstresses.

Online I am always looking for retailers with quality fabric at great prices and good customer service. One of my favorites for Moda is Thousands of Bolts. This is the website:

Missouri Quilt company has deals of the day if you "like"
them on Facebook, they send you notification of specials.I bought a couple(4) of their DEALS OF the day specials. I used one for a twister table runner! Love the feel of the fabric. Great bargains.

Jamiestitcher62 05-14-2011 03:20 PM

Fatquartershop.com and Hancocks of Paducah are my favorites, but all my local stores carry Moda. I joke with them since Moda is my favorite, that I'm a Moda Whore.

That price is for 1/2 yard, comes out to $10 per yard.

I check it every day. And yes, have purchased, and try not to purchase more, but sometimes it just is necessary lol

yeah, me too. Moda has got to be the most famous manufacturer and one of the better qualities as far as I'm concerned.

johans 05-14-2011 04:26 PM

me too!!! Can't imagine a shop not recognizing the Moda brand. Are you shopping in true quilt shops? or are you in chain stores that carry "fabrics for quilting?"

my thought exactly, even if they do not carry it they should know about it.

frarose 05-14-2011 05:11 PM

I can see people that work in Joanns and HC not knowing what Moda is. Most of them in the stores here are not quilters.

berrypatch 05-14-2011 07:21 PM

online or at shops in Lancaster,PA
Burkholders: burkfabrics.com; theoldcountrystore.com

I agree....every shop I've been in has it. Most of the online shops sell it too.

Banjo Lady 05-15-2011 04:50 AM

"Always in Stitches" in Noblesville, Indiana carries many moda fabrics - love the store....also carries great quality yarn; great/helpful staff.

Me either! But if you are only shopping for fabric at Walmart or Joann's it's conceivable that the clerk would have never heard of Moda. However some Joann employees are quiltmakers themselves so they would have HEARD of it, but would tell you it isn't sold there. Any real quilting store would carry Moda. I've shopped at quilt stores all over the states, and have never been in one that didn't carry Moda.

:)

I have bought from this place several times and they are great! They have some great tutorials on youtube as well

Auntie B 05-15-2011 06:15 PM

The LQS that I work in sells a lot of Moda fabrics. You would have a bit of a drive to get it though. (Sask. Canada) Go right straight to the website "Moda Bakeshop" Fabric is fairly inexpensive, and there are tons of free patterns you can print out. I have it added to my "Favorites" and browse there fairly often. Auntie B

I highly recommend this site. I love the precuts and I have never had trouble with them. :) :D

JulieTN 05-16-2011 06:10 AM

MODA is a fabric manufacturer. They have many great collections/lines to choose from yearly.

Why not google.com search MODA FABRICS and see what you come up with? Most quilt shops carry at least some of their fabric. It is extremely popular with quilters.

Julie ;-)

You won't find Moda fabric lines in any fabric chain stores ... like JoAnns or Hancock Fabrics etc
Moda sells only to individual quilt shops and wholesale to online sellers. Can't imagine any quilt shops NOT having some Moda lines or not aware of Moda ?? I've been in LQS across most of the country on travels, and don't think I've ever been in one shop that doesn't carry some Moda. They have to be the most popular and prolific quilt fabric manuf. in the last 10-15 years. :)
