Good morning everyone!!!
Sorry for this silly question but I am making a D9P (this is my very first quilt); do I square up my blocks before cutting them down in addition to once they are cut down or do I just square them up after?
Thank you!!!

I'm interested in this too. I'm in the process of making a D9P(working on the inner border). I did square up the 9 patch blocks before cutting them and reassembling them. Squaring blocks is an excrutiating process for me-I'm never certain I'm doing it right.

I squared my blocks both times - after sewing the original 9 patch, and again after sewing the block back together.

You can't be too square! .... the better job you do of that as you go, the better it'll all go together in the end ........ and the better results you will see in the finished project! :)

I do both times as well.

I started being more careful in cutting and using a 1/4 inch seam when sewing and stopped squaring my blocks I can't seem to figure out how to square them and even watching youtube didn't help. I am a self taught quilter and have no one near me to teach me how so I am just more accurate in all I do now.

Good for you! IMHO squaring up ruins more than it saves. You can always make changes in the seams, but once you cut the die is cast. No squaring up for me either.
