Question for stabalizer for t-shirt quilt
 

I have read up on stabalizer for t-shirt quilts and I have used the woven and non-woven. Since it is 100% cotton won't it shrink once it is washed? If so the t-shirts have all been worn and washed so they have done all the shrinking they will do and not all t-shirts are 100% cotton. Just curious as to what some of you that have done t-shirt quilts have used and what works best for you.

I bought some Pellon 906F to try on the next one I am making...it is 100% polyester.....any thoughts or experiences with this?

906F is the one I use. T-shirts stretch east-west. I iron on the 906F with the stretch north-south. Those shirts don't stretch in ANY direction after that! Easy to work with and doesn't add too much to the weight. Ann

I've used French fusible (the poly woven kind) but don't find it any better and maybe a little stretchier, than Pellon 911F,
but the only issue I have it the Pellon is that it just doesn't want to fuse as well I'd like--I think it's cause some shirts are difficult to really press enough due to the logos and possible melting.

Pellon 906F is the only thing I use for t-shirt quilts, and I've made dozens of them. It works beautifully.

I think that is what I use. It is a lightweight fusible. You don't want to add any weight to a quilt that is already heavy because of the t-shirts.

One quilt shop I go to has a quilt hanging on the wall made by someone who teaches a class in making the t-shirt quilt without stabilizing the t-shirts. It has been hanging there for a while, and I can see the t-shirts drooping due to lack of stabilizer and minimum quilting. I will stick to my 906F. Ann
