Question
I just love this Board and though I don't post often, I look at it every day. I'm hoping someone can come up with a solution to my problem. Someone gave me a ton of 2-1/2" white strips but the problem is that there is a 1-1/2" colored strip sewn to each one (various solid colors). What can I make with these where the two strips aren't the same size? Any suggestions out there?

Jenny from MSQC just posted a new video that uses coloured charm squares and jelly rolls in white. If you used the white/coloured strips in place of the all white strip she used, the resulting oattern might be interesting and original. It's called the Chopped Block.

I'm assuming that the combined strip now measures 3 1/2"? I would sub cut the strips into 3 1/2" squares and arrange in a pleasing pattern. You can make a rail fence type layout that would result in sort of a zig zag, or make a 4 patch with all 4 colors meeting in the center for a straight pinwheel

Sew together and use as piano keys on the border of a quilt.

You could cut them into blocks or sew more together and do a strip quilt. Just continue the theme where every other one is a different size, or add another strip to it with a different size. Lots of things to do with them.
