Can someone please help me I watched a tutorial about a lady folding material on something which she didn't say what it was which the size and then put on a bolt buddy. ok what did she make the white boards or what they were and what is bolt buddies and where can I find them
thank you |
the white boards are usually those lawn signs that are plastic and look like cardboard. you can get them at hardware stores and stuff. not sure what a bolt buddy is though. there is a post in the tut section on folding fabric that is fab. I can't wait till I get enough fabric to use this tut. I will look for it and post. if someone hasn't beaten me to it,

here is the tut for you.

Bolt Buddies are small clips that you can use to keep your fabric on the bolt without using a straight pin. I use hair clips instead, they work just the same and are a whole lot cheaper.

i get the cardboard bolt holders from Joanns..they are free.
i cut the cardboard to the size i want and wrap anything a yard or more. i use 2 straight pins to keep them wrapped. some things i splurge on, some things, i would rather spend the money on fabric. all done.. this really is the best place in the world to get quilting advice. especially when you don't have local quilters around you that you meet with regularly. even when you do.

There was a gal from Alaska who did a big tut on it and she used coroplast. Not sure where the buddies can be found.

I used cardboard and cut it to 12 inches x 7 inches and folded my fabric in half and rolled it on them. Like you would see in the stores. I secured them with a pin, but the idea of a bobby pin has now crossed my mind. Much cheaper and now I can all my fabric standing up! I just noticed to today when I went to the Dollar Store that they have poster board like stuff which has foam between the two layers. That could be a great alternative too I would think?
