Hi question on buying thread for monograming. Has anyone purchased from Thread Art. Our could you suggest a place to buy on line. And how many colors would you have on hand, and what are the colors you use most. Thanks for the help.

I have purchased Thread Art poly. It sewed OK on my Viking. If you are just going to monogram, I would get Black, white, beige, navy, burgundy and a dark green. If you are going to do machine embroidery designs, it would be good to invest in an entire set of colors so you get the weird browns & beiges that give the designs depth.
Some machines are picky. I would order a spool or two from various manufacturers to see which one(s) your machine likes best.

metro embroidery thread is cheap, sews out nicely and has tons of colors...
metroemb.com
just a heads up...i've been ordering from them for 2 years or more, but never ordered their variegated thread because it looks like plain cotton on their web site...I finally ordered a few spools and much to my surprise, it is shiny embroidery thread! Don't know why it looks so dull on their site...but other than that..great company!

some thread sources with good selection and good prices are-
connecting threads
superior threads
atlanta thread company
sulky
metro embroidery
thread art

joannes, hobby lobby, michaels also carry large selections-
buy one or two spools/cones- try them out= if they work for you keep track of where you buy them so if you hate it you know not to buy it again- if it works great you can go get more colors.
some machines are quite (thread picky)
you need to find what works for you...a little at a time- don't invest alot all at once-just to find your machine will not sew with it.

I prefer madeira thread a little more expensive but sews up beautifully.

I purchased a large lot of rayon embroidery thread from them, thru an ebay listing awhile back. It was a great price, I got tons of colors and it stitches out beautifully on my Viking machine.
